Villwock Bio

Jeff Villwock has over 40 years of experience in investment banking and equity research and has spent the last 25 years focused on healthcare services. In the three years for which he was eligible, he was twice named to The Wall Street Journal All-Star Analyst team in healthcare and in 1995 was voted the #1 healthcare industry analyst.

Mr. Villwock joined The Robinson-Humphrey Company LLC (a subsidiary of Smith Barney and Citigroup) in 1997, where he led the healthcare research group. Prior to coming to Atlanta, Jeff spent 20 years at regional investment banking firms, including serving as Director of Research for Johnson Rice & Co. in New Orleans and Schneider Bernet & Hickman in Dallas; and a co-founder of the Sunbelt Special Situation group of Rotan Mosle, Inc., a division of Paine Webber. Mr. Villwock started to specialize in healthcare services in 1991. His research coverage included the hospital and long-term care industries along with a variety of ancillary service businesses.

Jeff founded Caymus Partners LLC, as an Atlanta based healthcare focused, middle market investment banking firm in 1999. Caymus Partners successfully completed over 35 transactions during his tenure as a Managing Partner of the firm. Mr. Villwock sold Caymus Partners in 2006 to his partners to rejoin a former Robinson-Humphrey partner in the firm he founded, Genesis Capital LLC.

Genesis Capital has a diversified mergers & acquisitions focused investment banking business. Clients range from Fortune 100 clients to smaller privately held companies. The firm maintains a balance of both sell side and buy side assignments. Mr. Villwock specializes in healthcare service and public company assignments.  He was a Managing Director of Genesis Capital from 2006-2016.

Mr. Villwock has also provided healthcare advisory services to institutional investors after leaving Robinson-Humphrey from 1999-2011.   Services are provided on a subscription basis and include comprehensive research on the hospital, skilled nursing, home healthcare, surgery center and funeral home sectors.

As part of this new effort to work with smaller companies, he founded Lanier Securities LLC in 2016.

Mr. Villwock co-authored the book “Greed, Scandal & Wrongful Deaths at Tenet Healthcare Corp.” and is a regular contributor to BusinessTN magazine. Mr. Villwock is a regular speaker and advisor to institutional money managers, private equity, hedge funds, debt investors and the healthcare industry. He has been quoted in a variety of publications, including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Modern Healthcare and the Los Angeles Times.

Mr. Villwock attended Southern Methodist University and received a Bachelors of Applied Sciences degree in Economics.   He has served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of RREACH and as a Board Member and Audit Committee Member for MentorLink, two Christian organizations working worldwide.   He is a co-founder of the Dixon-Byrd Medical University on St. Kitts and Eastern Caribbean Healthcare, Inc., which is intended bring healthcare services to the Eastern Caribbean.  He has also explored opportunities for healthcare services on Grand Cayman Island and in Latin America.

Jeff has five children, ranging from age 36 to 23 — the oldest who lives with her husband in Atlanta; a son working as a physical therapy assistant; daughter who dances professionally in New York City; daughter who is an interior design specialist and a son who recently graduated from UGA.  Jeff and his wife reside in Bufford, GA, a suburb of Atlanta and live on a houseboat on Lake Lanier a majority of the year.
